I am Mr Babajide Rogers, Branch Manager with Bank of
the North, Victoria Island Branch, Lagos, Nigeria.
I have an urgent and very profitable business
proposition for you that should be handled with
extreme confidentiality.

On January 6,1998 a Foreign Oil Consultant and
contractor with the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation (NNPC) Mr. James Herbert by name made a 
numbered time Fixed Deposit for twelve calendar months
valued at US$35M (Thirty Five Millio United States Dollars Only) 
in my branch.

Upon maturity I sent a routine notification in
accordance with the Bank policy to his forwarding
address but got no reply.

After a month we sent a reminder and finally we
discovered from his contract employers the Nigerian
National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) that Mr. James
Herbert died from an automobile accident.
On further investigation, we found out that he died
without making a Will and all attempts to trace his
next of kin was fruitless. I therefore made further
investigations and discovered that Mr. James Herbert
did not declare any next of kin or relations in all
his official documents including his Bank Deposit
paperwork in my Bank.

This sum of US$35M has been carefully moved out of
my bank to a Security Company in Europe for
safekeeping.

No one will ever come forward to claim it and
according to Nigerian Law, at the expiration of 5
years the money will revert to the ownership of the
Nigerian Government if nobody applies to claim the
fund.

This prompted us to contact you.We will like to front
you as the next of kin of our late client thereby
making you the legal beneficiary of the sum of $35
million U.S Dollars that is presently in a Security
Company in Europe. 

I contacted you because it is against our code of
ethics to own and operate foreign accounts and your
assistance would be needed to claim the money in the
Security Company in Europe.

We have unanimously agreed that 25% of the entire sum
would be for you if you agree to take part in this
profitable transaction,70% for me and 2 of my
colleagues while the remaining 5% would be used to pay
back the expenses that may be incurred during the
course of the transaction by both parties after the
fund has been claimed and lodged in your account. 
In the event that you are genuinely interested in the
transaction,the following information would be needed

I have attached the information you requested on the letterhead of my company, Spacely Sprockets, Inc. On the first page of the letter, I have copied my passport and Mr. Jetson's passport on the first page. The other contact information is on the second page. Please please do not contact us at Spacely Sprockets. George's wife Judy is very suspicious, and she has been coming by the office and looking at correspondence. Since I don't know what Mr. Herbert looked like, perhaps you can choose either my information or Mr. Jetson's information for the affidavit.

Please note that my legal name is "Richard James Shiner". In the United States, the name "Dick" is a nickname for "Richard", and just about everybody who knows me calls me "Dick". Since we are going to have an ongoing business relationship, you should know me as a "Dick" too. Is there a name I should call you besides Mr. Rogers? I am sorry that my passport photo does not look very much like me. I wasn't feeling very well on the day that the passport picture was taken. I have attached another picture of myself that was taken at a party more recently, so that your contact in Holland will be able to recognize me better.

The other picture is of George Jetson and his boy Elroy. George, of course, is the one on the right. As I mentioned, Elroy may be coming along with us, if we can manage the trip during the Christmas holiday. Elroy is a student at a military school, and he is interested in international diplomacy. It may take another week or so before Mr. Jetson and I are able to travel to Holland. Judy thinks that George had been having sex with his secretary Wilma Flintstone, and now Judy is determined to get at all of the papers and documents here at the office that might show whether George Jetson was making payments to Wilma in order to keep her quiet. It is a bit of a mess here, but Judy cannot get at the email or the fax machine for which I gave you the number. I will call you to discuss last-minute details of this arrangement, but please do not call me using the number I gave you unless I give you a time to call me. If Judy is here when you call, then it will cause a problem for George. She thinks we are going on a fishing trip later this week.

Hah, will she be surprised at how well George is doing in the future! A fishing trip indeed, I hope we catch the big one - hook, line and sinker. I don't know if you are a fisherman, but that is an expression we use for catching the really big Sucker Fish. Do you have Sucker Fish in Nigeria? They are a lot like the Surimi Fish, but easier to catch, because the Sucker Fish are what we call a "bottom feeder" type of fish. As you can tell, we enjoy all of the outdoor sports.

Now Mr. Rogers, can I call you "Babijade" or "Baba" or is there another name that you like? I would like to call you "Baba Louie", since that is the nickname of a dear friend of mine from the West. I do look forward to the meeting in Amsterdam, but I am worried about all of the people, now including your Dick lawyer that know about this at your end. Again, I cannot have this information fall into the wrong hands.

The $15,000 is not a problem. Also, please let me know the charges for having the documents prepared and for paying your lawyer, Richard, so that we have all expenses accounted for. Let us make sure that we have everything accounted for, so that the expenses may be settled quickly.

I want to make sure that this matter is done correctly and professionally. I have been to Amsterdam before, and I well know that at the airport and at the train station, there are all sorts of thieves, pickpockets, and other criminals who try to mislead visitors to Amsterdam.

We need to make sure that we understand each other and that we carry out this matter with an exact understanding. That means that I do exactly what I need to do, and you do exactly what you need to do.

I appreciate the photograph that you sent me, but there is a problem. I know that you have worked hard to get the papers to me and that you have done everything as you have said so far.

George Jetson is having doubts. I think part of his problem is that he is suspicious mainly because of the legal problems he has been having with his wife. We have asked you for a photo of you holding our contact sign, because there is no photo of anyone in the world holding that sign. If you have that photo taken, then only you and we will have it. If you send the photo to Joseph Smith in Amsterdam, then only you, we and Mr. Smith will have it. When we meet Mr. Smith in Amsterdam, then we will ask him to show us the photo. It is the only way we will know that this is the real Mr. Smith, and not someone who may be pretending to be Mr. Smith. Send the copy of the sign to Mr. Smith, so that he will have it at the airport when we arrive.

The other thing that worries us is that we were very clear about wanting the photo with you holding the sign. Or you can have Mr. Smith hold the sign, which is even better. You have not sent us what we have asked, and it makes us wonder whether in the future there will be problems with instructions.

Please understand, we do want to help you, and we have done all as you said so far. While I am comfortable with this deal, I do not want to lose the help of Mr. Jetson in this matter. It is his name that is on the certificate and on the affidavit, and I have to yield to his request that you send us the photo we have asked for.

So, please help me deal with this problem and send the photo in the next email to me. This will solve the problem I am having with Mr. Jetson. He is angry about other problems in his life, but this is one small thing that we can do so that he feels that this thing is going correctly.

It is a small thing for you to show us your sincerity and trust in this matter. It will also make us certain that any person we meet in Amsterdam is the true Joseph Smith and not someone who has fallen upon our communications by trickery.

Mr. Jetson is in court now, and I spoke to him by cell phone during their break for lunch. Elroy took a picture of George in the courtroom with his cell phone camera and sent it to me. I will tell George that we should buy you a cell phone camera if George keeps being difficult about people sending pictures! Elroy should not be taking pictures in the court.

I have also attached our flight reservation information. We will be leaving on British Airways flight 284 from San Francisco on Friday at 4:25 PM. There is a stop in London, and we will arrive at Schiphol on British Airways Flight 438 on Saturday at 3:40 PM. We have reserved our return flight for Tuesday. We have purchased refundable tickets in case any changes need to be made. I am still awaiting your hotel suggestions, and please note that George would like to do some touring while we are there. On the other hand, I know that it is a lot colder in Amsterdam this time of year than George will probably like.
